Question: I am a coach of a hockey team, the Popcorn Raiders. How do I set up fundraising for our team’s financial goal under Heydan?

Answer:  Go Popcorn! 

Set up your account as a Homeowner.  Any homeowner can ‘Add a team’ to their account.  Be specific on your team name, address, and your contact details so members of your team can find you easily and add you to their fundraising efforts.

You can access a ‘Team Advertising’ Document under the resource section of our website, Heydan.ca to describe your organization and fundraising objectives.  This can be distributed to your team members and their parents to get them started.

Funds raised are held in a Wallet under Heydan that you, as the coach, can monitor (and request funds from) at any time.

 

Question: I am the proud parent of Mark, an eager and motivated hockey player.  His team has started using Heydan as they require funds for travel expenses.    How does he market the tasks he wants to complete and his fundraising goals? 

Answer:  Great Job Mark! 

There is a Youth Advertising Flyer under the resources section of our website, Heydan.ca, that you can use to describe your goals and the types of tasks you are interested in completing.  These may be customized and printed (in color or black and white) to your neighbours. 

This is a great way to get the word out and create opportunities for Mark.

 

Question: I am a Home Owner.  I would like to support Jorja, in my community, who wants to earn money for books for her book reading club.  How much should I offer to pay her for a task?  For example snow removal or babysitting?

Answer:  Way to go Jorja!   

You should consider what a professional service might offer for the same work.  For example, in the case for clearing a typical driveway and sidewalk a commercial service might charge $200.00 per month.  Under Heydan you might expect to offer 50 to 75% of the rate for commercial services.  In this case, $100.00 to $150.00 per month. 

A fair rate for babysitting would be based on typical babysitting rates for your area.

Jorja sounds like a sweetheart who is taking charge of her own destiny.  She could be Prime Minister one day.

 

Question:  I am a parent and am interested in approving HeyDan for my child.  But why do I have to add my Credit Card information?  

 

Answer:  HeyDan wants to take every reasonable step to ensure you are a parent and have the authority to approve your child's participation.  Typically, you must be at least eighteen (18) to apply for a credit card.  This means that by providing your Credit Card information you are helping to demonstrate that you are old enough to approve a youth under the App. 

 

Question: My name is Jarjeet.  How old do I have to be to complete neighborhood tasks under Heydan?

 

Answer:   Heydan wants your family and your community to work together.  You are recommended to be at least twelve (12) years old and involve your parent and/or guardian to provide any guidance you might need.  

• If you are between twelve (12) and (14) supervision by an adult is recommended.

• If you are fifteen (15) to seventeen (17) you may complete tasks under Heydan more independently under most circumstances.

There are guidelines that your Mom or Dad can help you read.  These are called Occupational Health guidelines.  Discuss with your parent/guardian where you can find these in your jurisdiction (where you live) and please be safe Jarjeet.

Question: I am a Home Owner and will be going on vacation for two (2) weeks.  We just got a new R.V. and we are all excited to go camping.   But I love my yard and need someone to water my plants while we are away.  How do I set up a task to have this done?

Answer:   Request a one-time task.  Describe the work that needs to be done and select ‘Tools’ if you will be providing the watering can and description on where to find the watering can and water spout.

Drive carefully and make sure your campfire is safely extinguished.

 

Question: I have arthritis and can’t work in the cold.   I have great difficulty shovelling the snow from my driveway.  I love my neighborhood and would rather hire a youth in my neighborhood, rather than a stranger, but I need the work done all winter. How do I do that?

Answer:   Request an ongoing task when the snow season starts.  Provide the description that the task you are offering is on a weekly or a monthly basis.  For example, ‘$150.00 per month to clean snow from my driveway and sidewalk’.  Select ‘Tools’ if the shovel and broom will be provided. 

Once you have contracted the work, and job, is completed, approve payment and your task will be recreated for the next month.

Question: I would like leaves removed from my gutters.  The job requires a six (6) ladder and requires someone to climb on my roof.

Answer:  This would not be viewed as safe or appropriate tasks for youth in your neighborhood.   Heydan supports safe, age appropriate tasks, that youth might normally complete at their own residence.  Climbing ladders may not be such an appropriate task.

This may be a job for Heydan Sr.    Stay posted.

 

Question: We are a local commercial bakery.  We make cookies.  Very yummy cookies.  We are a strong community supporter and would like to hire a local volleyball team to clean our parking lot.  We like the ease of use and security features Heydan has to offer.  We have safety vests and signage for the work and will supervise the safety of the team.  Can we use Heydan to get this done?

Answer:  Heydan allows you to task a group of youth, or sports teams, in your community to complete larger jobs like cleaning up leaves from a commercial property, or painting projects and the like.

Question: I contracted Jaeden to cut my lawn but he met his team goal and got to go with the Boy Scouts to hike the West Coast Trail.  He will be gone.  What happens to the money I paid?  

Answer:  Your credit card payment is held until the job is completed and your Youth Contractor provides notification as such. 

You may request a refund, less the administration fees associated with the task you had requested. 

Wish Jaeden well.  I’m sure he appreciates your support.   I wonder who else is in your community who would like to cut your lawn?

 

Question: I am a Youth Contractor and live with my Dad one week, and my Mom the other.  Can I still use Heydan?

Answer:   Heydan allows for more than one parent or guardian to approve your use at different locations. 

Keep in mind that there are two (2) different task types.  One-time-only, or ongoing.  If you will not be available to complete an ongoing task, such as clearing snow from a driveway you may want to avoid applying for these tasks. Please discuss this with your Mom and Dad to see how this might work best.

 

Question: My name is Rebecca. My grandma has been ill.  I don’t belong to a sports team but I would like to save for my future, and give a little to a charity to support a cure for my Grandmother’s illness.  I think I might like babysitting to earn some money.  Can I use Heydan?

Answer:  You should complete a babysitting course Rebecca, if you haven’t already.    Heydan provides notification to your parent/guardian for your babysitting, and other contracts, to help keep your parent/guardian informed.
